The 9th National Meeting of Open-Cut Mining, which is a part of the 2010 Polish Mining Congress, will be held in Cracow on 9-10 September 2010.
Hermes GabroStone has opened a new natural stone warehouse in Sokołów Małopolski near Rzeszów. The new warehouse was opened in August. This is the ninth warehouse owned by Hermes company in Poland. Others are situated in Szczecin, Kraków, Gdynia, Wrocław, Sosnowiec, Lublin, Białystok and Piotrków Trybunalski. The warehouse in Sokołów Małopolski is a step towards the expansion into the new parts of Poland, those which are important in economic terms and in which HGS has not been active enough so far.
The statistics from the developer market surprise in a positive way. In May 2010 the production of basic wall materials (hollow bricks, concrete blocks, etc.) was more or less the same as in March 2008, that is before the recession. The increased production signals that housing, after a very weak second half of 2008 and 2009 has finally spread its wings. Indeed, the data show that the number of the newly initiated projects in housing in late spring 2010 has been the highest for 2,5 years.
Stone companies Granex from Strzegom and Kawo from Nowa Wieś Grodziska will represent Poland at the conservation fair Denkmal in November in Leipzig.
New Globgranit exhibition & production hall is being currently built in Pieszyce (dolnośląskie province). The work is at half-way point. Now there are fat years for Strzegom-based granite quarries. The road industry takes the most of their output. The demand is so huge that the companies could temporarily double their production. All, however, realise that this situation will not last forever and no one risks to overcapitalise or to raise the prices too much. In Strzegom they say that they will face the truth in 2014.
