During 5th edition of Open-Pit Mining School (11-14 June in Zakopane), which is one of the most important stone industry events in Poland, representatives of MMG i WKG presented their knowledge on choosing the methods of rock extraction and capabilities of advanced equipment. - We are glad to be able to show the potential of our machinery park and to share unique knowledge on stone extraction and processing – said Dr. Zbigniew Rybakiewicz, the president of MMG.
- For the last years we have created a unique team of professionals that can work with every machine. Thanks to this unique combination we can offer comprehensive services to our customers.
MMG operates in the area of limestone products (crushed and ground) as well as decorative natural stone (especially slabs made of Raciszynski travertine). We should also add that Zakład Obróbki Kamienia (stone processing plant) in Wojkowice, Silesia, is not only the most modern stone plant in Poland but also in this part of Europe. Production capacity of the plant reaches 1,000 m3 of blocks per month. The plant works continuously on two shifts.
5th edition of Open-Pit Mining School was an occasion for scientific community to representatives of the most largest and the most important companies in this market sector. WKG has been both one of the sponsors of the conference and expert in the field of limestone extraction and processing of travertine blocks. It is important since the 5th edition of the School put a special emphasis on the issues related to safe extraction of minerals and reducing natural hazards. The speakers devoted a lot of time in their papers to regulations regarding mining activities. Another interesting presentation, which corresponded to that topic, was about open-pit exploitation of deposits in the countries where mining is highly developed (Australia, Mongolia, Chile or South Korea). During the event the visitors had an opportunity to learn about advantages of extracting blocks by diamond wires and effective ways of using saws with cutting chains.
