Rebuilding of the closed cemetery at Ostrowska street in Szczecin has just finished. The monument which commemorates soldiers who died in World War I underwent a total renovation. Rubbish and construction waste which were stored there were also removed. Now there are new plants, trees and bushes there as well as gravel paths, benches and trash bins. 19th-century tombstones have been cleaned and re-installed. Interestingly, workers have found about 200 old tombstones during their work. They also came across old stairs which have been also renovated. It all cost about 600,000 zlotys (ca. €150,000). The works were carried out by Rosiek i Sobczyński company which offered the lowest price in the bid. All the works were supervised by the provincial art restorer. They were finished in November 2015.
