Re-interment scheduled in 2010 |
Warminska Archidiocese and Warminska Cathedral Chapter in Frombork put a project of the tomb of Nicholas Copernicus out to tender. It will be raised in the place of the re-interment of the astronomer in the cathedral in Frombork. The project should include the outer part of the tomb, that is a sarcophagus, space-and-sculpture forms, an epitaph, a tomb slab, etc. The place of re-interment will be situated by the St. Cross side altar in the southern aisle.
Nicholas Copernicus was an astronomer, a clergyman, and a Warmian canon. He was buried in the cathedral in Frombork. His place of interment was unknown for ages. Copernicus' remains were found and identified during archaeological works. His re-interment is scheduled to take place in June 2010.
