The World Natural Stone Association was set up at the Marmomacc fair this year.
This is an organisation which is to promote natural stone on the global scale. Among the 10 founding fathers of World Natural Stone Association we can find people, companies and organisations from, among others, India, Italy, Russia, Egypt and Brazil. R. Veeramaani, who comes from India and is also the president of All India Granites & Stone Association, was appointed the president of the Association.
It is hard, however, not to see that the fair in Verona are losing its significance among the representatives of traditional stone industry, especially the one associated with small architecture or raising tombstones. This year far fewer visitors from abroad visited the stand of Chinese manufacturers and suppliers of ready-made tombstones. The exhibitors complained about the low number of the stonemasons from Poland. We need to remember that Marmomacc is mainly a fair for natural stone, design and technology. And, indeed, the trend that we can see include a great interest in the offer of exhibitors among architects (especially interior architects), artists, designers, sculptors-to-be and also retailers from the whole world.
