Due to closing the air space over European countries (as a result of the volcanic ash coming from Iceland to a great part of Europe) EUROROC meeting of the International Federation of Natural Stone Industries which was scheduled on 23 April in Vienna was cancelled.
The preparations to the meeting took a few months. The representatives of all national stone associations in Europe, including Polish representatives, and from the United States, were to come to the meeting. Among the special guests there were to be Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, the Austrian Minister of Commerce and Industry and Dr. Mont. Alfred Maier, the Head of the Department of Energy and Mining. The general topic of the meeting included several subtopics concerning some essential issues for international stone industry, cooperation among the countries, research, legislation and products. The meeting has been rescheduled to early October (at the time of the stone fair in Verona).
