Mr. Cezary Grabarczyk, the Minister of Infrastructure, visited Strzegom on 25 March 2009. - I really wanted to come to Strzegom because this region is a granite center of Lower Silesia. One of the advantages of Lower Silesia is the fact that you have the largest railway network in Poland. These factors will have a great influence upon making decision in order to solve the problem of transporting aggregates out of workings - says Cezary Grabarczyk asked about the purpose of his visit.
Strzegom also hosted Radoslaw Stepien, the undersecretary of state in the Ministry of Infrastructure, and Zbigniew Chlebowski, an MP, who lives in the Strzegom district and is familiar with the local problems very well. During the meeting the participants mainly concentrated on the issue of transporting aggregates out of the Strzegom commune.
Andrzej Wach, the vice-director of Polish National Railways (PKP) stressed that he knew the problem and made concrete decisions which took into account the plan of the aggregate transport. I hope that bringing this plan into life will relieve our Polish roads, said the vice-director. Stonemasons from Strzegom were also present during the meeting. Zenon Kiszkiel, Stanislaw Sitarz and Ryszard Checinski explained the problem in detail. Lech Markiewicz, the mayor of Strzegom also asked the minister to deal with this issue as soon as possible.
