This year's edition of Stone fair will include a stone sculpture show during which works made at the international symposium in Orońsk will be presented. The visitors of the fair will have an opportunity to see stone sculptures made by students from Poland and Finland. This year's edition of the international symposium was entitled “Initium”.
Unusual works of art will be created at the Polish Sculpture Centre in Orońsk. They will be made by students-members of Artistic & Scientific Organisation “Stone Age” by the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (Faculty of Sculpture) and by students from SAIMAA University of Applied Sciences (Imatra, Finland), Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts (Helsinki, Finland) and Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Unique works of art will be created under the supervision of Dr. Marcin Nosko who runs the Stone Sculpture workshop and the students' supervisor Marcin Smosna, MA.
The participants see stone as an essential sculpture matter and highlight the myth and meaning of “the beginning”, which, like stone, lies at the heart of our civilisation. The International Sculpture Symposium exemplifies a bigger and bigger interest in stone sculpture.
We can also see it among students who are using this material more and more frequently. In order to promote stone material, the organisers also decided to hold a series of post-symposium exhibitions. Thanks to the cooperation between Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Poznan International Fair, the exhibition will be a part of Stone fair this year. Last year the exhibition entitled “Gravitas” attracted a lot of visitors. We think it will be the same this year.
