Salon Kamienia (the Stone Exhibition) in Kielce finished on 7 April. It was held at the same time as the Fair Dom (Housing Exhibition), Ogród i Ty (Garden Fair). We cannot, however, speak about a success of this event. The stone branch was represented by just few companies, for example Promasz, Śląskie Kruszywa Naturalne, Przedsiębiorstwo Przerobu Kamienia Budowlanego “Prodmar” from Suków, Zakład Kamieniarski “Przywała” from Chęciny and Marmor Ewelina Kos. The representatives of funeral branch and stone tools manufacturers were absent. There were also no foreign exhibitors.

Polskie Koleje Państwowe SA (PKP, Polish State Railways) is currently doing the biggest programme of modernization of railway stations. The programme includes railway buildings in all regions of Poland. Many works, of course, could not be done without stone industry specialists and natural stone will add functionality to a number of buildings.

ITE Poland invites to the STONEX Fair 2013, which is going to be held on 16–19 April 2013 at the exposition centre Expocentre in Moscow.

On 12 February a German town Demitz-Thumitz hosted a meeting of the representatives of the Employers’ Association of Stone Industry (ZPBK) with the Board of the Saxon Association of Stonemasons. Mariusz Welman, among others, from the Spree – Neisse – Bober Euroregion was present there. He deals with initiating Polish-German contacts within the framework of the European Territorial Cooperation Poland – Saxony.

There is going to be a two-nave tunnel there, which means that two parallel pits are going to be carved into the rock. When it comes into existence, it will be the longest tunnel of that kind in Poland.
