From Friday, 19 March, to Sunday, 21 March, Czocha Castle in Leśna (Lubań district) hosted the 13th General Meeting of the Employers Association of Stone Industry. Due to the 10th anniversary of the association, the president, Stanisław Sitarz, on behalf of the whole board, handed special diplomas to the owners and presidents of the companies which have been the members of the association since it was established.
In order to get to Szczecin through the frozen Bay of Szczecin an ice breaker must be used, but not in case of Aura. M/v Aura, built in the ship repair yard in Gdańsk, is adapted to work in winter time. Its ice class is 1A. Aura is carrying an unusual loading: over 3100 tons of granite blocks from Finnish ship yards, said Mariusz Januszkiewicz from Magemar company.
Four new work rooms have been just created at Zespół Szkół Budowlanych (building schools complex) in Brzeg (opolskie province). One of them will be devoted to artistic stonemasonry, which can be again found in the list of trades. The school is waiting for the special list of items and goals dedicated to the subject of artistic stonemasonry, which is going to be issued by the Ministry of Education.
Stonemasons from Lodz are getting orders for the next year now. In order to erect a tombstone before November 1st, the Lodz residents placed their orders as early as in July. Now the stonemasons are receiving orders for the next year. - Many customers buy tombstones just before the All Saints Day, says Bogdan Ciechowicz from a stone company in Ogrodowa street. - They want to commemorate their beloved dead this way.
The organizer of Xiamen Stone Fair is going to hold the World Stone Congress during the next years edition of the fair. The congress will be held on 6 March in Xiamen, China. The discussed issues will be related to the sustainable development of the global natural stone sector. The congress is going to be visited by the world leaders in the field of quarrying and processing of stone, manufacturers of stone machines and experts.
