QUARRY REDEVELOPMENT WORKS ARE UNDER WAY
The authorities of Kazimierz Dolny are getting ready to the tender through which the best concept for redeveloping the post-quarry area will be selected.
It means that the works on Geopark Małopolski Przełomu Wisły (Małopolski Gorge of the River Vistula Geopark) project, in which seven communes take part, are still under way. Besides Kazimierz Dolny, there are also Janowiec, Annopol, Opole Lubelskie, Józefów nad Wisłą, Łaziska and Wilków. The first one is an operations coordinator. If the concept is put into practice, in the near future the tourists will be able to visit geologic attractions like quarries, grottos and mines situated in the area of partner communes. Putting the concepts into practice will depend on eligibility for EU funds. We will find out more about it in the second half of the year.
While waiting for the funds, the communes which participate in the project are drawing up their own projects for redeveloping most spectacular geologic sites. One of those sites is the quarry in Kazimierz Dolny. We will know more about the way it is going to change as soon as the tender results are announced. The project also includes redevelopment of the centre and adjacent streets of Kazimierz Dolny.
