Building the monument commemorating the prisoners from the Gross-Rosen Nazi concentration camp in Rogoźnica near Strzegom has entered the first stage.
The representatives of Nigerian ministries of mining industry and metallurgy as well as some government institutions took part in trade and technical mission to Italy. The delegation was also present at the fair in Carrara. The mission, which took place from 15 to 28 May, included the representatives of three institutions: the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD), the World Banks Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources Project and the Association of Dimension Stone of Nigeria (ADSON). The delegation included, among others, the representatives of ten stone producers who are launching granite and marble mines or processing plants.
Euro-Granit company from Gorzów Wielkopolski, the first natural stone warehouse in Poland, built on the Polish capital (it started to work in 1998) stopped working.
The opening of the new warehouse of Stoneworld company in Grzędy near Warsaw (by the road to Cracow) took place on 8 May. The owners of the company are Adriano Dalle Nogare and Mariusz Bugaj who are associated with famous brands Tigerstone and Graniti Sergio Dalle Nogare.
The repairs in Ostrogski Castle has been in progress since 2005. The castle, according to the decision made by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute, was being prepared to become a Chopin museum. The museum exhibition honours the occasion of the Chopin year - marking the 200th anniversary of the celebrated composer. Since 6 April it has been made possible to visit the interior and the exhibition in the castle. The stone repair works were conducted by Pamir company from Warsaw.
The group of stonemasons from Poland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands participated in the economic mission in the Spanish province Almeria. The representatives of stone industry visited several quarries and processing plants in the region. The mission was organised by the Agency of Foreign Trade Promotion in Andalusia. Almeria is a centre of marble and travertine extraction.
In January Krystyna Banaszczyk was appointed the position of the president of Geoservice Christi company. She took the position after Małgorzata Sołtys who went abroad.
