The company from Raciszyn which operates in the area of limestone products and gemstones was awarded the Economic Prize of Łódź Province “Mocni w Biznesie 2016” (Strong in Business 2016). WKG won the main prize in the category of EU project with potential.
From the very beginning of its existence the company has been investing in technologically advanced solutions and implementing them in its Raciszyn mining plant as well as in the company's other plant in Wojkowice in Silesia. So far WKG has successfully implemented a few unique research & development and investment projects and there are still more to come.
The winning WKG research project relates to processing clay that is produced during processing of feed obtained from stone (Raciszyn mining plant). This is a step towards waste-free exploitation of natural resources, thanks to which each and every cubic meter of excavated material will be used. The company along with scientists from Polish universities are now working on processing this by-product into a high quality raw mineral that could be usKG representatives at “ed for the production of advanced fire resistant construction materials.
– A product made of processed clay may be even stronger than concrete. This is a project that has a huge implementation and commercialisation potential. Except for business case, this project is extremely important in terms of environmental protection and social responsibility, says Tomasz Będkowski, the president of the company. – We are happy that out project has been appreciated. Winning this prize was a big surprise for us. Now we feel even more motivated to keep investing in innovations. We have a fresh outlook on the branch we are working in. We can say that innovations are written into our DNA.
Let us also add that the above mentioned project received a funding from the Łódź Province Regional Operational Programme for 2014-2020 (sub-measure I.2.2, B+R business projects).
