The monument shows a huge cross made of white stone with Jesus with chopped off hands on it. The granite monument was revealed during the ceremonies related with 70th anniversary of the massacres of Poles who lived in Volhynia (11 July).

The obelisk made of several blocks of granite was laid in Żoliborz, a district of Warsaw. A stone 7-metre high cross with Christ’s figure is its dominating element. In front of the cross there are 18 plaques with the names of places from seven pre-war provinces of II Rzeczpospolita (Second Polish Republic): wołyńskie, poleskie, stanisławowskie, tarnopolskie, lwowskie and partly lubelskie and krakowskie, where mass murders in 1942-1947 took place.

Between the cross and the plaques there is a sarcophagus, in which small capsules with clods of earth from the abovementioned places were put. Marek Moderau is the author of this sculpture. He is a sculptor who is famous, among others, for the project of the monument of the victims of Smolensk air disaster which is situated at the Powązki Military Cemetery.
