Unusual theft took place in Chodzież (Wielkopolskie province). Surprisingly, the victim knew from the very beginning who might have stolen a 7-tonne stone which used to decorate his agritourism farm.
The thief had called the victim the day before and showed a great interest in this fieldstone. The owner said that he was passionate about stones and this one was priceless for him. That’s why he was not going to sell it. It did not scare that man away. Taking advantage of the absence of the owner of the place, he came in a lorry with a digger and a crane to take the stone. They did not come to terms in this case, so the victim informed the police about what had happened. When being questioned, the thief said that he was … Australian by choice. According to him, the stone has the shape of Australia and he was supposed to use it as a tombstone. The stone nut may be sentenced up to 5 years in prison. The value of the stolen stone is estimated to be 3,000 PLN (about 750 euro).
