The monument, which, because of its functionality, brings to mind a bench, was made of green granite and is supposed to satisfy atheists from a small town in Florida.

Some time ago non-believers sued the fact of raising a different, because religious, monument near the local court. Instead of getting the monument removed, they succeeded in getting a consent to raise their own monument, which would be the first one of this kind in the United States – the monument of atheists. After the long legal struggle, the new monument was raised at the square in front of the court.

On the stone bench we can find carved quotes by famous atheists such as Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. The monument of atheists is also special because of the fact that the bench is adjacent to the monument with Ten Commandments of Christians.
